The year began on an optimistic note with high hopes of seeing an end to the Covid19 pandemic as vaccines rolled out worldwide says Jason e Fisher. However, as days passed, it became clear that the fight was far from over as the novel coronavirus started creating new waves of mutated viruses. Some of the newer viruses are more lethal and fast-spreading.
Our woes continue as the agonizing wait for a cure or eradication of the pandemic now seems to be a long-drawn battle that perhaps no one expected. The new turn of events has only multiplied our mental stress, which is now more concerning as affecting our overall health and wellbeing. According to Jason e Fisher, stress and anxiety are normal reactions during a pandemic, but with a new twist and turn of events, now and then are not allowing us to recover from the trauma.
To overcome stress and anxiety, we must stay healthy by taking some measures stated below.
Pay attention to personal hygiene
Wash your hands frequently with soap water, keep the surfaces in the house sanitized, and always wear a mask when you are going out. The better you take care of yourself, the more you protect others, too, by cutting off any chances of the infection from spreading. Never touch your face with unwashed hands and when moving outdoors, maintain the recommended physical distance from other people besides avoiding crowded places.
Let work not get the better of you
If you are working from home, there are high chances of working for extended hours that leave little time for relaxation. If continued for long, the extended working hours can develop too much mental stress and cause fatigue. It will affect your output and quality of work, displease your boss, and build further stress. Avoid creating unrealistic expectations of your bosses. By following a fixed work schedule so that you have some time to be with yourself and your family for unwinding and getting ready for the next day.
Engage in other activities
Instead of following a routine of work and sleep only, add some variety to it by including some exciting activities. That helps redirects your energy and refresh the mind. Remember that all work and no play make Jack a dull boy. By allocating some time for hobbies or other activities. What interests you, you will be able to release a lot of pent-up stress and start enjoying life once again. Cook some special recipes, do some gardening, indulge in some craftwork. Or draw and see how much rejuvenated you feel after accomplishing the task.
Get some fresh air
Despite the restrictions of moving out, if the situation permits. Then step out for a while with due precaution to get some fresh air as you can do some brisk walking that serves as good exercise.
Eat healthy and nutritious foods in the right quantities and keep the body well hydrated by drinking water. And other fluids but be careful to restrict tea and coffee. Because too much caffeine can disturb sleep patterns.
